This week features my favourite anti-viral approach to Long Covid, shingles, CFS etc, clinic news, a protein bowl recipe and some newsy/research bits. Enjoy x
Because I often feel that any chronic illness, especially immune ones, likely have some kind of infective agent involved somewhere. People often reactivate old, supposedly dormant, viruses. I generally think it's a good idea to break biofilms and let the immune system get to anything if needed that could be hampering healing or keeping a chronic inflammatory mechanism going.
Had quite a few emails too on this, so thought would post a few replies here too in case it helps anyone. People asking what else they might do for colds/virally things that won't go. See the original post where I've put some suggestions. Also check out the Infections general factsheet here: Also see here: https://purehealthclinic.co.uk/health-a-z/infections/.
Great email this week Micki and thank you. Reading about the monolaurin made me think as my daughter has EBV and this may be helpful. The long Covid info was very comprehensive too.
Re your book recommendations what type of genre do you like? If crime then I recommend Elly Griffiths - start with the Ruth Galloway series ( from the start as the story carries through) there are 15 of them and I am hooked!!
Oh, thank you Maddy, glad it was helpful for you then, potentially. EBV is definitely being reactivated by covid too, I am seeing it all the time. Books - 15 in a series, love that! That should keep me going for a while. I shall look into them. I tend to alternate between literary fiction and softer, funny reads mostly but I do enjoy crime too - even Scandi noir sometimes! .
Brilliant! Especially your video, really really good. As a lay-person (I think I got a C in ‘O’ Level Biology in 1975), I’ve not found it easy to wade through all the lovely research which has gone into Long Covid. I decided to major on just a few areas: sleep/rest, mitochondrial repair and a healthy gutbiome. I think I’m doing OK (my breakfast bowl is something a flock of budgerigars would enjoy, for instance) but I wish I’d had your video and factsheets to refer to, you explain things so well.
In response to your ‘And finally…’ yes, I am enjoying your newsletters very much.
Oh that was quick work there, Kate - and thank you. Happy Thursday to you too. My brekkie is similar - seeds, nuts, fruit and just added lupin powder for extra protein. No wonder we're so chirpy ;)
I'm nearly finished the book...the secret life of bees....loving it!
Is it about bees???
Bees are in it quite a lot but they are not the main story!
Great newsletter, and I'm glad you shared my tulips....they have brought me so much pleasure this year!
I enjoyed looking at them. Just the picture was lovely! Thank you so much for sharing them x
My pleasure x
Interesting comment about Monolaurin for MCAS.
Why would it be used for MCAS?
I've used it before when I had EBV, and I still have 2 nearly new unexpired pots in the cupboard that I need to use up. The pearl pellet type.
Just wondering how it might benefit me and MCAS?

Ah yes, was looking forward to your newsletter…been up since 6, eagerly awaiting..!
BTW: when I typed gutbiome, I meant gut microbiome….but you knew that! And thank you for not mentioning it. Tut!
Ha ha - you make me smile! And I quite liked the abbreviated version.
