Purehealth News
This week features my favourite anti-viral approach to Long Covid, shingles, CFS etc, clinic news, a protein bowl recipe and some newsy/research bits. Enjoy x

TEST SERVICE REINSTATED!
I sent this out last bank holiday weekend, quickly, before I changed my mind!
Just wanted to say I have been listening to you all and have just reopened the test service for you. Honestly, I've quite missed it myself, I enjoy the sciency-ness of it, and it's actually been more stressful saying no all the time than actually doing them! I thought you probably didn't need it any more and that other services would be fine, but it seems I offer a pretty unique test service still, who knew?!
So, the plan is that P is going to help with admin (since AI is merrily munching his voiceover jobs anyway, so he's less busy with that), I will work fewer hours generally on tests myself and may even recruit some VA/intern team support again. We'll see.
Anyway, sorry to have nicked it for a month, but I've had a nice rest and am back on it for you.
I think, honestly, I have developed a business model that really works. Every time I try to better it, or change an element of it, it all falls apart! I should stop trying to innovate and just get on with it! As someone said to me last week: know your worth and embrace it, woman! How lovely :)
Spotlight on Monolaurin (the best anti-viral for eg. CFS, EBV, shingles, MCAS, Long Covid, colds etc)
This week’s paid subscriber question came from E, who wrote:
You’ve really helped me and my family over the last few years, so I’m very happy to be a subscriber. [beam, beam, Ed]. I keep recommending monolaurin to friends with shingles or clients that I see who have kind of long Covid. It would be good to have something to send to people that backs up why this particular supplement is really so great.
Fab question - it is indeed one of my most favoured supplements for long term illness with a viral component - whether you know it or not! Most don’t even realise virus is involved, trust me. If I even suspect it, it goes in.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, I will point you to a post I wrote all about Long Covid where I include a load of info about monolaurin. I also did a video and discuss it from about 10 minutes in. I hate seeing myself - I look quite swollen and ill here - mainly wearing the wrong colour and forgot my glasses, but it was just after I’d had Covid myself and menopause had just begun in earnest. Where even is Earnest; we hear so much about it?
Anyway, ignore how I look. But, blowing my own trumpet, I am sometimes astounded that I know all this stuff! I am trying to get the confidence back up to do some more video stuff for you. Should I? What do you think?
So, here’s the post. And here’s the video:
Here’s the monolaurin mentioned in that post. You can get several types from eg. Natural Dispensary and Amrita. Just make sure you match the dosages as they all differ. Of course.
I hope that all helps. E, you could link to this newsletter or that blog post or video to help people, but I’ve also done a separate page in the A-Z on monolaurin because I too am always wanting somewhere to pint people to about it!
Oh, and check the original post and video out if you need more info on Long Covid especially. It was 2022, so we have learned quite a bit since then, but I think I was pretty much on the money, I thank you.
Good answer, E? I hope so :)
News: Veoza (fezolinetant) hot flush med given serious liver warning. I saw on WDDTY that this non-hormonal drug that was approved for use in 2023 for hot flushes has received a warning for health professionals that liver health must be monitored closely before use and if on it. I don’t think it’s an NHS drug currently as I couldn’t find it on the BNF/NICE list, but it wasn’t hard to find it at online pharmacies and via private prescriptions. So just noting it here in case. Good overview from the EU meds agency here, and here is a copy of the updated physician’s info on it.
News: It’s World Ovarian Cancer Day on 8th May (today as this goes out), so here is the NHS website on it for you. Here, too, is my Cancer factsheet in the A-Z. I’ve not written a lot about it, but I have noted there some useful cancer markers that can show up in ovarian cancer. I can test for you, but I’d rather you talked to your GP on these things too, please.
News: Homeopathy helps children with bedwetting. A good reminder here to look at homeopathic remedies and treatment to help children. They are safe and effective in my clinical experience. I am a trained homotoxicologist (complex homeopath) actually, and I use the Heels and Guna remedies with patients quite a bit. Often cheaper than supplements! But harder to get. Anyway, a good case study summary here in case your kids are struggling with bed wetting.
Recipe of the Week: Peanut Chickpea Protein Bowl
This one from Delish Magazine looks like a yummy lunch or teatime dish. Not sure you even need the rice, but use short grain brown for your gut health if doing so. And you could change the peanut to any nut or seed butter you like. Soy sauce alternatives for TGFs might be tamari (watch the ingredients) or coconut aminos. I think this would also be nice spooned into large crunchy lettuce leaves with the sauce drizzled on top before wrapping up. Enjoy.
And finally…(this is rapidly becoming my favourite bit to write! Are you enjoying it, or is it just me?!)
I bought some of this bronzer this week, evens out my skin tone well but not so pale as my usual one when I have a tan. It never feels like I am wearing any make up, which I like. I rarely do nowadays, anyway, having gone feral since we moved back to Cornwall again, but sometimes you like a bit of touch-up. This is mineral-based and corn/TGF safe. I also bought this brush, fully prepared to send it back but actually I really like it. I think my old brush is at least a decade old so I was due a new one! I got mine from Boots, by the way, which have a sale on them currently.
One of you, thank you K, sent me a picture of these gorgeous peach blossom tulips to inspire me for my new garden next Spring. How beautiful are these?!
I shall be finding some ready for next year. Let me know any other things I should deffo have in my sluggy, snaily, windy, coasty easty-southy garden!
Culture-wise, I finished my Marian Keyes book (as per last week’s newsletter) and am on the hunt for my next read. Happily, I am being brave and am hosting a new book club next week where, instead of reading and discussing a book, we have a few mins each to tell people about something we love and think others will, so I’m hoping to pick up some new ideas then! Any recommendations welcome from you, too. What have you loved recently that we might enjoy?
OK, that’s it for this issue, peeps. I hope you found something useful there. Please leave this post a ❤️ and restack/share if you liked it - it really helps other people find me and possibly info that could really help them. Have a fab week x
Practicals: If buying supplements mentioned in this article through Natural Dispensary, please use Micki Rose during registration when prompted. If using Amrita, use this code to register for access to advanced products, no need to do it again then: 4Y2AE7. Lab tests are here (again!). Any questions, feel free to contact me and see Support options here.
