I know I am late in reading this so I do hope it has all passed now. Didn't realise the thing about PCOS and perimenopause. Crossing all my fingers and toes!!! X
Dear Micki, what a rotten time you’ve been having! Here’s hoping you are feeling hugely better.
I’ve never had a migraine, for which I am sooooo grateful. What I’m taking away from your newsletter is the concept of ‘overload’.
It drives me nuts looking around at folks who can’t see that the way they live their lives - wrong food, too much alcohol, not enough fresh air and exercise, constant stimulation, the list goes on - is overloading their systems…something has to give!
Modern life is rammed full of noise, smells etc, it’s a real challenge finding balance. Love that you find solutions, like your window blind, moving out of earshot of the gardeners, and so on. You are an inspiration!
What nine years of CSS has taught me is that I’m far more balanced if I just do one thing at a time. For example, I soon get overloaded if I use a computer for too long, and/or in the same room as a TV or radio babbling away, and/or when I’ve (accidentally) eaten too much sweet stuff (dates, I tell myself they’re healthy but 6 at a time??)…
Anyway, I’m rambling. Just want to say how much I appreciate your clear and accessible info, and your good sense. Sending love and hugs ❤️🤗
Sending big hugs! I can so totally relate. I had a huge vomiting migraine a couple of weeks ago after 18 clear months free of them. And I'm not really coming back up after it, which is strange and concerning. But I totally get the multiple overload issue. In particular your car journey stuck behind a bus resonated. I've had to do a few bus journeys lately and I've found them quite stressful, like I can't tolerate them. Just as I'm sitting here tapping away there is a lorry outside delivering to the kitchen shop downstairs, and the banging and crashing is really setting me off today. Bright lights, noise, smells, even a strong cooking smell, can just overload me. I think my thyroid is overactive again, so that's a hormone imbalance that's contributing I'm sure. I did work out that circulation issues were a fundamental factor for my migraines, so I'll be keeping a closer eye on that now. And heat does not help! I think we just need to do what we have to to stay well, we don't need a whole raft of non-days ruining our lives. Even the migraine "hangover" is debilitating, and affecting energy and mood. We often have multiple root causes too, and vagus nerve and limbic retraining also come into play for potential healing, ala your Healing Plan. Hope you feel better soon! 🤗
Well unlike really, you know. Why is there not an emoji for unlike?! Sorry about your migraine. Just when we think we've got rid, in it comes to keep us on our toes, or bathroom floor. Sigh. I hope you feel better soon. You are another good illustration of the allostatic load, sadly. Maybe we need some of those reversing beeps like a bus - backing up, backing up! But quiet ones. Sending hugs x
This was my first read of the morning and I chuckled out loud with your humor. Thank you for your light heartedness and health savvy writing. I'm your biggest fan. Also, thinking of the many friends who need to read about the allostatic load concept and for myself to apply this concept to daily life. Hope you are doing well today, enjoying Cornwall in all its beauty.
Bless you, that was my first comment of the day and I loved that too :) You have to laugh or you'd cry/gnash your teeth/bang your head against a wall/all of the above! Glad you enjoyed it x

Bless you, thanks Kate. Yes, people don't know how easy they have it sometimes , do they? But thank goodness they don't have to think about it!
Just one thing I'd say if you are getting overloaded like that is I would think about neuroinflammation and a brain to close to threshold. See my Brain factsheet https://purehealthclinic.co.uk/health-a-z/brain-memory-and-cognition/.
I can also give you a brain location form and suggest some exercises to help improve a brain that is fatiguing too quickly. Just ask, happy to if it would help. I wrote a post about it somewhere (of course!) - here it is: https://purehealthclinic.co.uk/2019/07/26/multiple-sensitivity-are-your-neurons-too-close-to-threshold/.
Feeling much better today, just kicked in the head feeling, you know. Or I hope you don't lol. Sending love and hugs back xx
Thanks, I’ll have a look. A ‘brain location’ form? What if the results come back: “Nope, looked everywhere but couldn’t find a brain”????
❤️
Feel better soon Micki.
Thanks sweetie. It is easing off thankfully. Ruddy perfume, aargh!

Confused about unlike??
I unlike that you had a migraine, you know.
Oh I see. I just use sad face 😞😞😞
I've only got sad face if I'm using my phone, which is rare - I use my PC.
Oh, that's odd, emojis are usually available everywhere these days. :-( try the sideways old fashioned keyboard way instead!

Thank you, Micki, that is helpful in order to understand how things can build up unawares. Coping methods and avoidance techniques, too.
Take care, and feel better soon - Grae :)
